HP is set to launch its Envy 15 laptop in the coming weeks, riding on a wave of continued support for portable computers that still feature a full physical keypad and larger tablet-beating displays, despite the implied dominance of the iPad and its ilk.

The Envy 15 has a 15.6 inch display and a premium look and feel which has been central to the Envy range since its inception. You might draw comparisons between it and a MacBook Pro, although since this is a Windows 7 device with its own personality and skill set, it is not that helpful to do so.

Like other Envy laptops, the 15 comes with Beats Audio technology, which does a good job of creating a better sound experience than you would expect from such a compact device. Rather than two speakers you get a total of six, plus a scaled-down subwoofer to offer great bass, so unless you plug in secondary speakers, you will not find a laptop with better onboard audio.

The Envy 15 comes with an Intel Core i5 processor clocked at 2.4GHz, as well as a Radeon HD 7690M graphics card from AMD with 1GB of RAM, so in all, this is a powerful, sleek laptop with a lot of life to offer.
