The majority of UK consumers are more than happy to use their internet connections to stream movies from the web, even if they have to pay for the privilege, according to a survey published by KPMG.
Two thirds of Brits say that they will not bat an eyelid at the prospect of dishing out cash for movie stream, but, interestingly, most would actually baulk at the idea of doing the same for TV shows, which they believe should be free of charge, given the model established by iPlayer and its contemporaries.
LoveFilm and new rival NetFlix both deal in subscription-based movie streaming for anyone with a laptop, desktop computer, games console or tablet in the UK.
Given that there are already over 30 different online portals where you can legally stream TV shows in the UK, it seems that people are now very accustomed to being able to get access to their favourite shows without having to hand over any cash.
Although the entertainment industry has been complaining about the impacts of online piracy, this survey should prove that consumers are more than happy to pay for content, provided it is easier to access than the pirated products which were torrented in the past.
