Sky Satellite TV and Broadband Internet Provider

Satellite TV and broadband internet provider, Sky, has confirmed a number of major changes and updates which will be coming to its services over the next year and a half.

By the middle of 2013, it has said that 88 per cent of UK households will be able to sign up to its broadband service and it will also be creating greater Wi-Fi hotspot coverage along with fibre optic broadband for faster connection speeds.

Sky is promising that customers will be able to pay around £20 to get access to its 40Mbps fibre service which, presumably, harnesses BT’s Infinity FTTC (fibre to the cabinet) connectivity on a wholesale basis.

Sky has said that it will not be enforcing any kind of data cap on its fibre connections, which is good news for people who want to make the most out of faster speeds for large downloads, online gaming and more.

Although fibre optic connectivity is sure to please its customers, the Wi-Fi hotspots could be the biggest news here, because it will allow people with laptops and tablets to stream TV, browse the web and work when they are away from their landline service.
